Porsche axes all diesel cars from its range

Porsche has confirmed it has axed all diesel engine options from its range with immediate effect. They said the decision was made due to a 'cultural shift' by the brand's customers which means that 'demand for diesel models is falling'. Porsche customers will no longer have the option of a new diesel-powered Macan, Panamera or Cayenne as Porsche switches full attention to petrol and hybrid models.

And fanning the flames of a complete move away from the 'devil' fuel, Porsche confirmed in a statement that the Macan S Diesel had been 'taken out of the production programme' too, meaning it will only sell petrol-powered 4x4s for the foreseeable future.

No matter. If you own a diesel variant, bring it to Precision Porsche for all its servicing and maintenance and take advantage of our Fixed price Servicing, available on all Porsche models.

Next Porsche GT3 to be turbocharged with 8-spd PDK

A new report claims the next-generation  GT3 will forego its naturally-aspirated flat-6 engine in favor of a new turbocharged flat-6 unit. They also said an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission will handle shifting duties. Although forced induction may leave some loyalists feeling soured, power will supposedly climb to 550 horsepower, up from the current 911 GT3's 500 hp. The current car employs a 4.0-liter flat-6 engine.

Porsche will perform a balancing act with the addition of a turbocharger system, which means added weight to the car. The report said the next 911 GT3 will rely more on high-strength materials to offset any weight gains. Active aerodynamic systems will likely be present, too.

Ahead of the next 911, which should debut in late 2018, Porsche will reveal the 2018 911 GT3 RS at the Geneva motor show. Images of the new car already leaked and show more aggressive front fascia and other exterior tweaks. We'll also likely see a 20hp increase to 520 hp total.

Whether you have a turbo-d GT3 or naturally aspirated version, here at Precision we offer fixed price servicing on all models, using only genuine OEM parts, ensuring your Porsche warranty remains intact. At more preferable rates than a main dealer.

See you soon.

Brake squeal is nothing to worry about, assures Porsche.

Screen Shot 2018-02-05 at 10.17.00.jpg

The high-pitched noise sometimes emitted from brake pads and rotors that causes stress, and sometimes embarrassment is a completely normal occurrence, say Porsche.

In an overly informative video explaining what brake squeal is, and why it happens, owners should rest easy knowing the noise occurs when energy and heat convert to vibrations. The brake rotor then acts as a "speaker" and amplifies the vibrations to create the squeal. In Porsche cars specifically, the large brake pads can create more squeal at low speeds due to pad pressure distribution. But, if an owner is concerned, a Precision Porsche technician can confirm the noise is nothing more than the parts operating in a normal fashion.

So don't worry too much about the brake squeal. Instead, just enjoy the car no matter what obscure sounds it may make. Besides, a Porsche powertrain and its associated soundtrack should more than make up for occasional brake squeal.

Fixed Price servicing on all Porsche GT models

At Precision Porsche we offer Fixed Price Servicing on all Porsche models including the GT's and because we only use genuine Porsche parts your warranty always remains intact. Using the very latest Porsche diagnostic equipment we offer more favourable rates than a main dealer.

GT 911s are rare. Only one of them was built in limited-series numbers, for example. They’re also not as fragile as you may think – the 996 and 997-era cars didn’t even suffer from the oil leak issues that famously let down other variants. The ‘Mezger’ engine is hugely strong – and although it was replaced in the 991-series car, and the first ones of these subsequently blew themselves up, they should all have been substituted by now with perfectly solid motors.

Porsche Panamera for 2018

Many of our customers drive Porsche Panameras and Precision Porsche are happy to offer them Fixed price Servicing , ensuring their Porsche Warranty remains intact by only using genuine Porsche parts.

The new 2018 Panamera is called the Sport Turismo. Four variants of the model will be available for 2018—4, 4 E-Hybrid, 4S, and Turbo. But if you’re in the Panamera game for ultimate speed, it’s the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid—only available in the original body style—you’ll want. Coupling the 550-hp twin-turbocharged V-8 with a 136-hp electric motor, Porsche’s magic math yields a combined output of 680 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque. Which is just about enough.

1964 Porsche (901) 911 - restored by Porsche

Screen Shot 2018-01-08 at 11.46.40.jpg

Porsche is ready to show off the oldest 911 in its possession after three years of meticulous restoration: a 1964 901. Porsche purchased the rare car in 2014 after a German television show focused on finding old treasures stumbled upon the car during an episode. Upon its discovery, the team immediately contacted the Porsche Museum, which verified it was an incredibly rare car. The company paid an undisclosed amount for the 1964 901 after a professional appraised the car.

In three years, Porsche worked to restore the car back to its original state, which was even more satisfying since the car was never modified in any way. The results are downright remarkable noting the car's original condition.

The company used genuine body parts from other 911 models and the engine, transmission, electrics, and interior were all repaired in the same manner. Restorers took great care to retain parts and fragments when able to keep the car as original as possible.

The 1964 901 turned 911 will be on display at the Porsche Museum through April 8, 2018 at the special exhibition “911 (901 No. 57) – A legend takes off.”

Here at Precision we specialise in restoring and servicing all Porsches, although not all are as old as this one. Please call to discuss your Porsche project.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team at Precision Porsche.

We would like to thank all our customers, old and new, for your support in 2017; it has been a great year.  We met fantastic people, worked on great projects and truly stunning Porsches.  We all have our favourite ones, from the 924 to the mighty impressive 991 GT3 RS.

We have been extremely busy this year. The business is growing, so it is my pleasure to announce new members to the team.  Helping in the service department is Andy, our new Service Adviser, a qualified technician with over 30 years in the motor industry and he is already a great asset to the company.  We have been interviewing for an apprenticeship position over the summer and are very pleased to introduce Patrick, our new Apprentice Technician.  He has a great attitude and passion for sports cars and Porsche, and I am sure he will have a great future with Precision.  Finally, I would like to introduce Dan, our new detailer.  He has been valeting cars for over 20 years and loves nothing more than to bring your car's paintwork back to life. He just cannot wait to jump on to the next car.

Whilst the company is expanding, we will never lose sight of our attention to detail and the utmost respect for our customers and their wonderful cars. It is our privilege to work on such prestige vehicles. We strive hard to provide a personal and professional service and are always looking for ways that we can improve.  We welcome your feedback, good or bad.

2018 will be an even busier year with many new customers venturing into Porsche ownership and we look forward to welcoming them to Precision.  There will be our popular 'Cars 'n Coffee' meet in the spring,  which will include free Porsche health-checks and a chance to meet the Precision team, so watch out for that. We also attend our local Porsche club 'meets' once a month, so, if you are able to attend, it's always nice to catch-up. Dates to be announced on our website and Facebook pages soon.

In the meantime, we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.  Stay safe on the roads and  we look forward to seeing you in 2018.

From all the team at Precision Porsche

Get a grip. It's only a bit of snow.

Many of your cars will be nestling under blankets in nice warm garages this Winter, but for those who use them throughout the year, don't forget your Winter tyres if the weather gets dodgy. Wide Summer tyres and temperatures below 7 degrees don't mix. It doesn't have to be snowy or icy, just cold. Summer tyres stiffen up when the temperature drops whereas Winters stay flexible and give you better braking and handling.

Talk to us at Precision about a set of Winter tyres for your Porsche and we'll be happy to supply and fit for you. Until then, onwards and sideways...

Electric Porsche on wintery mission.

New spy shots have revealed Porsche has started cold weather testing its all-electric Mission E that will enter production in 2019. It will offer a range of up to 310 miles and debut new rapid charging technology. Porsche’s first all-electric saloon will spawn various models, with different power outputs and over-the-air updates. These latest images don't show any drastic changes to the Mission E prototype; a new set of wheels likely to be wrapped in winter tyres are the only difference. A pair of five-spoke wheels are seen at the front while the rear wheels are fitted with a 15-spoke design.

Porsche is aiming to sell up to 20,000 Mission Es a year and is looking at supplementing the range with a high-performance GT-E variant, as well as other versions with varying power outputs. If you buy one, you can trust us at Precision Porsche to look after it for you.

Singer Williams Porsche 964 911 Lightweight - now with 500 bhp

Porsche restoration/modification/reimagination specialist Singer officially dropped details on its most drool-worthy 911 project to date: a lightweight 964-era 911 with a 500-horsepower 4.0-liter flat-6 engine. The formula is simple: subtract weight and add power; the results are incredible. We like it, and they've almost managed to finish it in our company colours of Acid Green. The engine retains many original qualities despite the power increase to 500 hp. It's a classic Porsche four-valve-per-cylinder head design, it's naturally aspirated, and, yes, it's air-cooled. It will also scream to redline over 9,000 rpm redline.

Singer will build 75 examples of this car, though Williams will handle production at its Oxfordshire, England, campus. Price? The company doesn't mention, but it's worth putting on the Christmas List. If you're lucky, bring it to Precision Porsche for the best in Fixed Price Servicing on all Porsche models.
